If you have ever wanted to know how to make jams, chutneys, pickles or marmalades then join me to learn how to make your own delicious preserves in a workshop at The Yorkshire Preservatory .
Each workshop is based around ingredients that are seasonally available or preserved through freezing or dehydration. Most of the produce used is grown on my allotment.
Contact me to chat about the type of preserves you could make depending on the season and availability of fruit and vegetables.
The workshop is hands on where you will make two different preserves, all of which you will take home with you at the end of the day.
I provide full guidance, instruction and demonstration that will give you the necessary confidence and knowledge to cook independently at your own pace at your own work station, by induction hob or gas hob, in a friendly, informal atmosphere.
The day will begin with a tasting session of different types of jams and chutneys. This will be followed by a brief overview of how preserving works, the equipment needed and basic jam/chutney or pickle making methods.
Throughout the day everything you need to prepare and make your preserves will be supplied, including a restorative cup of tea or coffee.
You will make a chutney in the morning followed by a jam or pickle after lunch. (I plan the day after discussing your preference with you.)
Having labelled your preserves, you take home all the preserves you make. (Usually around 10 jars)
Lunch offers another opportunity to sample home made food using seasonal produce.
Contact me to book a place or find out about the type of preserves you could make depending on the season and availability of fruit and vegetables by submitting an enquiry form or ring me to chat about what you would like to do.
